Runnin' Down A Dream
I have been training for my 4th marathon to be run in Morganton, NC on October 25, 2008. It's called the Ridge to Bridge Marathon and it has a entry limit of something like 200 so that's one reason I picked this race because maybe I won't have to worry about being sardined between 2,000 other runners. Oh, I love 'em all-I mean we share this desire do this 26.2 distance, something I really don't understand why I want to do it but then again that only seems absolutely insane and feels like torture at a certain point during a long run or the actual marathon itself when I have that same ole' voice in my head that starts up, "what are you doing?" Yet, I get home, take a shower and usually about 3 hours later I'm over it and back to thoughts like, "I need to go read that article about how to tie my shoe laces when running downhill." See, that's another reason I picked this race. It's basically a gradual descent and a Boston qualifier. And that is on my list of things to do- qualify for the Boston marathon. If I don't do it this time, I will wait until I turn 40 when just about the only good thing out of that will be that I will have another 5 minutes added to my cutoff qualifying time. Right now, I finish in 3hr45min59sec. Don't forget the 59 sec b/c I may need it. When I'm 40 it will be 3hr50min59sec. Whether I qualify or not, I can say that I've never felt more love from a race coordinator than I have with these from Morganton. They have been regularly emailing me with updates on who's running, where to eat, inviting us to come there and do long runs with their running club and as above mentioned a link about how to tie my laces while running downhill: http://www.fieggen.com:80/shoelace/locklacing.htm
